Confusing Righteousness for Hatred

Today it was reported in the media that singer Elton John has stated that religions promote hatred of gay people. (For those of you who may not know of him, he is a singer and has long been a practicing homosexual.)
While there certainly are some people who do hate homosexuals, the majority of religious people do not promote hate -- they promote righteousness. Unfortunately, how they communicate that value is sometimes inappropriate and/or unwise, but that does not change the fact and validity of the moral value being addressed.
Rather than someone steeped in the homosexual lifestyle admitting their "sin," they prefer to write-off those who say homosexual activity is unrighteous. What better way to nullify someone's voice than to declare them hate mongers. After all, [as they might say] "only self-righteous people make declarations about what is right and wrong."

Christ offers forgiveness and healing to ALL of us for our past sins -- regardless of what they were. People do not miss-out on heaven only because they were practicing homosexuality or embezzling money from their employer, they miss-out on heaven because they did not ask Christ for forgiveness and then live the rest of their lives for Him in righteousness.
