The Mission: To Glorify God in ALL Situations

62759-795112-thumbnail.jpgThe pain and the fatigue of the Fibromyalgia continues to wreck havoc on my body, my emotions, and my spirit.  While I do not claim to be equal with Job's experience of pain, suffering, and loss, I do claim that his story and his example in scripture continues to be a source of encouragement and strength for me and many others.

Job did not understand the "why" behind everything that he was experiencing and suffering, but one thing he did have: he had a mind that was set on the one mission: To Glorify God in ALL Situations!

“Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant my desire.

I wish he would crush me.  I wish he would reach out his hand and kill me.

At least I can take comfort in this:  Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One."

Job 6:8-10 (NIV)

What might you be going through today?  Health problems?  Relational problems?  Situational problems?  Are one or more of these kinds of things serving as a water torture, where the first drip was ignorable but the 10,000th drip has brought you to the brink of suicide?

Don't give up!  None of us understand the "why" behind our sufferings, but one thing we do know:  Our Mission.  We know what our mission is in the midst of this chaotic suffering.  Our mission is to Glorify God in ALL situations!

When I was pastoring, a segment of the church body had chronic and incurable situations that involved physical and emotional suffering.  Quite often, having prayed for healing and deliverance, we as a group would gather at the front of the church during a time of worship and -- joining hands -- we would raise our voices in loud praise and worship of our Lord.

There is more to life than surviving our ordeal(s).  We need to be missional in our sufferings.  Let's declare out loud our worship of God, and express our love for God.  Let's follow in the footsteps of Job and declare the righteousness and the love of our God for all the world to hear.

Besides, deliverance and healing is just around the corner.  It was for Job, and it is for us!
